The idea of this canopied jungle garden is to generate its own eco system and micro climate. To strive to allow normally tender plants which tend to be grown under glass to survive year round outside in the small garden space of approx 60ft x 20ft typical London garden space. In a way almost creating a glasshouse but without the enclosure of the glass. So to that end its something of an experiment each year.

This is not an exotic garden in the Victorian sense with deep flowering borders and highly maincured grass. Its the opposite in that there is no grass and the plants are all around you and not necessarily flowering. So expect different textures and shades of green making up the planting. This garden will remind you of New Zealand, Australia and Brazil as well as Malaysia and Indonesia.

Palms, Bananas, Bamboo and ferns make up the structure of this garden and are allowed to overlap and to form a canopy. A mixture of plants form the underplanting. A bridge takes you over a koi pond to the rear part of the garden to secluded seating.

Please note that due to the Koi pond and nature of this garden (spikey plants) children must be accompanied at all times. The koi bridge is wide enough for only one person to cross at anytime.

With Thanks to all at Koi Water Garden, Mitchkoi, Connoisseur Koi for all their help and advice

Unfortunately access to the garden is obtained directly through the house and there are steps into and through the house, and also through the garden. This coupled with the dense planting can make it very difficult for some people to move round the garden.

Please call in advance for advice or further information regarding viewing and access so as not to be disappointed on arrival.

Due to the nature of jungle style planting without the use of a glass house we rely on the current weather conditions each year for a successful planting display. Therefore the garden does change each year according to conditions.
